Most of the people I know who fish Conroe haven't been doing well for the last 3-4 weeks (maybe I know the wrong people!). They say they catch a few early then it shuts off for most of the day. A friend told me that this is because the water is too hot and there isn't enough oxygen above the thermocline. If this is the case, when is conroe going to turn over?

I beleive they mean "below" the thermocline. All this means is the fish tend to suspend in or just above the thermocline, so fishing on the bottom will not prove as rewarding/dependable as earlier in the year. The themocline will begin to dissipate as soon as we get a whole lot of rain or the weather starts to cool. That could be a good month or so away.

Try fishing very shallow along windblown banks early and late.

We had a great trip on Conroe today.......Fished with Tex and J.C. out of Anchorage and we kept about 20 large bream and 35 cats To 3 lbs....We caught them shallow and then 18-20'.............

I agree with Palerider on going early and late. Besides the better bite it is to hot to be out there during the day.
