How would yall feel about having some sort of race or demo at a place like this?

That pic was taken from a giant BBQ pit. Bands were set up to the right in that pavillion and to the left is Galveston bay. At any given time there were about 175 in attendance and probably 400 people all together showed up. I know this because I was one of the organizers. Imagine setting up a small track in front of all those people. Think RC cars would draw attention? I know these people and I think it would. :)

Well, it would definitely get the attention of the kids, which then brings the dad's over, only followed by the mother's who say, "Come away from the big kids and their toys." LOL!! Actually, I think having it as an independent event may be better - wouldn't detract so much from why the event was organized. If we get invited and they advertise a bit about the exhibition, that is one thing.

I think events like this would be better if one of us shows up with one car and starts playing around with it. Next thing you know other people are wondering what you are doing and then you start letting them play to get hooked.

I still think we need to hit a mall that is close to one of the shops that carries and sells Mini-Z equipment so that we not only get them hooked but send business their way. Either that or we get the shop to come out and advertise with us.

Just some thoughts.

Nope. Half the idea is to "ADD" to the event. I say half becuase its win/win for the event and for RC exposure. It brings more folks to the event which is part of my responsibility of the event. We did this twice and we were allways looking for more attractions to add to the event.

Whatta ya mean if we get invited??? LOL Were invited trust me. I do alot of the invites, so thats a done deal.

Id rather get organized and actually schedule some racing. I dont know what kind, we need to think that out yet. The way I see it, we have two options. Offroad or Minis. The parking lot will be too full for onroad.

The event is a fund raiser for TOBA. Texas Open Beach Advocates. We are fighting to keep the beaches open to the public like the law says. Its a long story and I wont get into here but I've been involved with this group for about 5 years. Its a great oportunity for exposure. Trust me, I know these things. :)

OK. Now that you explained the event and your pull with the association and what not then that makes more sense. I thought we'd be crashing a party or some thing. HAHAHA!

If that is the case then definitely off-road. What would be great is to get some paddle tires and sand buggy tires and do a demo on the beach! If the event is focused on saving the beach fronts and what not, why not show them what fun the beach can be without being in the water - R/C dune buggies!! That would be awesome I think!

You're preaching to the choir Biff. I've been saying for over a year we need to put together a travelling road show and take it to non-RC venues. Stuff like TOBA, marathins, bike rides, etc. I'm going to get Lajuan's marathon schedule and find some that would be good.

Theres no beach there. Some of yall may know where this is. Its called the HLP spillway pavillion. Coming down 45, turn left on 646 and take it till it ends at the bay. Turn right and its about a mile down on the left. Setting up a track will take some thought. There really isnt any dirt around but there is alot of grassy area. I suppose we could set up some plywood jumps or something. Were looking at doing this around late October when its a little cooler.

Bring a designated driver for the drive home. Im not gonna lie, we party. But its a family set up too. Theres a playground and stuff.
