Stringer

Put in at 7:30am and headed to the SW towards the islands and lillypads. Easy paddle with no wind at all. Used a slip cork with no weight, a 4/0 circle hook and chicken liver. Caught my first fish on my second cast in about 2' of water. Went about 20 mintues without a bite, so I decided to move a little deeper. No bites in 6-9' of water either. Decided to move shallow again. Ended up catching 10 or 11 channel cats all in less than 4' of water. Slip cork no weight right up next to the stumps. A couple of the ones caught in 2' of water jump and clear the surface when they hit. Decided I had enough cats on the stringer (six), so I rigged up the ultra light for some perch fishing. Caught a dozen perch about the size of your hand or slightly bigger.
Next, I decided to explore some. Made a big loop around all the island and eventually made it back to the boat ramp. Talked to a couple that was camping out and running some jug lines at night. He showed me a monstor blue he had tied up to a tree on the bank. It was a good 25lbs or so.
Overall, the fish were not as aggressive as they were on my last trip. Last time they would swallow the hook everytime. This time the bite was a little bit slower and they didn't hit quite as hard. I actually missed a few fish this time.
