Cagle Ramp=Lake Conroe.
Got a late start and didn't get the yak in the water until 9:00am. Decided to try a little spot that I was told about a few days ago (thanks medulla). It was a pretty long paddle, probably a little over a mile or so. About 20 minutes later I reached my spot. Fished tree stumps in about 4-8' feet of water around the last island from the ramp. Used beef liver, chicken liver, and nightcrawlers under a cork. Set to where my bait was about 1-2' from the bottom. The bite was fast and furious. It was almost like bass fishing. I'd throw right up next to a stump and then it would take off. A couple strokes with the paddle and its time to toss over to the next stump. Then bam! Another fish! This continued for 4 hours. It was like every little stump was the home to a catfish. At one point I caught 5 fish on five casts from 5 different stumps. All 3 baits were hit equally, nothing was favored over the others. I had 9 fish on my stringer after the first hour and a half.

Decided I was going to keep 10 or so keepers to take home. After another 30 minutes or so I count my fish and I'm already at 12. Lost count I guess. Decided to fish my way back to the ramp and release any other fish caught. Caught another 10 or so on the way back to the ramp. I ended up keeping 3 more due to swallowing the hook and having their stomachs come up. Wind picked up big time about half way back making the trip back a loooong one. Especially, dragging 15 cats on a stringer behind you. The smallest fish of the day was 14" and the largest was 24". Total weight for the stringer came to 31lbs. 11 channels and 4 blues. Caught 23 fish total and brought home 15, all caught on one rod n reel!
