All right, I know how y'all love other people's misery, so here it is.

This is what an oil and gas reserve pit looks like. More specifically,
this is what an oil and gas reserve pit looks like with a Honda 4
wheeler stuck in it. For the uninitiated, back in the day they would dig
a 10 to 14 foot deep pit and pump all the drilling mud, downhole fluids
(oil, etc.) and saline into it. I had stopped and taken a picture, then
took off and drove over what I thought was the way around the outside of
the pit. It was actually about 4 inches of dirt that was covering the
rest of the pit. Fortunately, we were able to get a truck there and yank
it out before the crust under the rear wheels gave way. Bear in mind I
was in the middle of 2,100 acres in the middle of nowhere when this
happened, and of course about 2.5 miles from my truck.

LOL. Yeah, but I never saw this coming Trey, what's your excuse? You can't tell 'cause in the photos the oil's seeped everywhere, but it had dirt over it and it looked just like all the rest of the normal ground. My file (with all the access agreements, maps, etc.) was in the basket on the front along with my camera. I tried to get close enough to snag them and more of the crust broke off and I went in about a foot before I sat down. Nick got there and decided to get a closer look, it was above his knees before he sat down, ha ha ha ha ha. I really thought the back tires were going to break loose and I was going to lose a wheeler. I've been doing environmental work for 16 years and I've never seen one quite like this. BTW, I let some of the sludge drip off and fired that sucker up. Ran it up to about 40 mph and blew off what I could, ran through some tall grass to get some more off, and drove it for another 2.5 hrs. It would make a great Honda ad, I may send them the photos along with the story.
