Hit the beach for about 4 hours this morning with live shrimp, and caught some mullet in the surf when I arrived. It was everywhere. Water was moderately sandy and surf was calm with a light sse breeze. Wasnt a serious trip, just to relax and have some fun. Wound up with 4 sharks...2 were baby black tips about a foot long. I think the other two were either sharpnose or sand, I dont know that much about sharks. They were around 30". Worked the live shrimp under a popping cork hoping for some trout, and on bottom with a fish finder rig....nothing. Tried some arties...nothing. While wading in hip deep water throwin a corkie, my main rod goes off with drag screaming. I'm sure I looked pretty funny trying to run back to it in waste deep water. Anyways, wound up with my personal best redfish.....heck, personal best fish period. Went a little over 40" and weighed in a 27 lbs. Made my day.
