I have some older boats and I've done repairs to the trailers and seem not to find anything that seems to hold up to corrosion of my repairs. I've repaired the bunk board mounts by welding in new galvanized supports but the welds seem to rust. I've tried cold galv. with a paint finish, spray on vehicle undercoating, and other things but seems they don't last long. I know they got the aluminum spray but it's pretty expensive. So what do you use that seems to work? I did notice that the asphalt sealer on the stick that I stirred it with looks like it has potential so that's my next try. Any thing yall used that seems to work??

I just replaced both drop axles on my trailer -- rust always seems to be on the non-galvanized "drops" and on the steel the spindles are welded to.

I don't know if it's going to work, but his time I coated all the non-galvanized pieces with "flex-coat" epoxy -- its the same stuff they coat the thread-wraps on fishing rods with. It sets like epoxy, but is a little flexible.

Only time will tell -- probably won't do a d**m thin, but man I hate trailer repairs.
