For whatever reason, Paypal believes this benefit to be a raffle and therefore against their rules. I spent 3 days of emails going back and forth with them to get my account reactivated, but needless to say, I am still on their radar. Due to some language barriers (I won't elaborate, but they were pretty bad), I absolutely could not get across to them that this wasn't a raffle. So, make your check out to

Mike McBride

and mail it to

Normally, I wouldn't have kissed their hind end in a matter like this, but there was over $5000 of Mike's money tied up here, so I ate crow for 3 days to get it released. Sometimes, you gotta do what you gotta do and I would do it all over again for Mike if it came down to it.

I went trhough the same thing with them because I sold a gun case and the buyer paid with Paypal. So they limited my access for 180 days.

I don't know what the Indian (not the redskin kind) word for benefit is, but it's obviously very close to raffle in their language. Like I said, I normally would have told them where, how, and how deep to shove it, but this thing isn't about me, it's about helping Mike.

Man, thats a real bummer. I've gotten those folks that you can't understand a few times. You just about gotta hang up and try the next one sometimes. Money order would still work too for the ones that dont do checks right Mont?

Checks, cash, and money orders are all just fine.

I posed this question to some colleagues in India. The suggestion was to use 'charity' instead of 'benefit' since this is for a 'cause' and no monetary benefit to you as you are simply the collection point for the cause.
May/may not work. ;)

Charity is a word that will definately get their attention and it requires pre approval. I found another way around it for the future, but just not for Mike's deal. What they did was look at my email, then follow it here, then find the benefit. They won't have that problem in the future. Here's a screen shot from their AUP.

If there is a dollar sign icon next to the thread, that item is paid. It's completely up to date as of today. I update it every day.

$5112.78 went to Mike today

$28,554.52 was sent to Mike on 6/18/09

That's 100% of what I have received as of today.

the actual total raised to date as of this morning is $36,867.30. There's a few payments in the works from folks that have been on vacation and such and I will post a final total when they all make their way in to me.
