First, thanks Mont! I know this board will be a great help as it grows!

My laptop and wife's PC were networked through a wireless hub in our home through DSL.

edit: Both computers XP Pro

Now I'm in a temporary new home that comes supplied with a cable modem.

I've connected the cable modem into the wireless modem, but cannot get an Internet connection.

My connection status shows excellent on both laptop and PC and all other connections are disabled.

I'm able to post this because I plugged the lan cable from the cable modem directly into my laptop. No problem, but when I do the same thing for the PC, it will not connect to the internet.

I've tried ipconfig release/renew, repair connections, everything.

What am I missing?

Thanks for any responses!

If you have more than one computer on a LAN at home, and you want to make the cable modem available to them all, you cannot just plug the cable modem into your LAN hub, because the cable modem will communicate with only one MAC address, and will issue only one IP address via DHCP.
Good solution can be found here

Ragman - When you say wireless modem, do you mean wireless router? If so, you should be able to use that setup with no problem, but the router will need to be configured. There should be a configuration page for the router...check your owner's manual, or online documentation if you don't have one. The first thing I would do is turn off WEP on both the router and the machines, and see if that works. My guess is that WEP is enabled on the router, but not on the machines.
