4/7/09 hit Lake Conroe again Thursday morning, same mo, on the water a 5:00am, catch a few shad & head out. Hit some green lights, nothing biting but some small hybrids. During that time we here cats feeding on the bulkheads, can't take it and start cruising the bulkheads. The fish seem to be a little finicky about the way they are taking the bait, so our hook-set to bite ratio not so good. Starting to break daylight buy now so we head for another spot, shad are happening on the bulkheads when we arrive, nail about 10 or 12 cats and now we are low on shad again. Went through a couple of light showers, have no idea if this made the shad disappear earlier or not. Make a few more throws with the trusty cast net and start fishing again. The shad fade even earlier this morning than our last trip. Out come the fresh dead (shrimp), pick up a few more channels, the bite seems to come in spurts, 2 or 3 fish then nothing for a while, then again 2 or 3 more. The overcast morning really helped, I don't think we would have ended the day with many fish without the cloudy conditions.

Not as good a haul as last week, but still a great morning on the lake as we ended the day with 31 channels. Took a riend new to the bulkhead scene and made a believer out of him. He'll be back!

Enough talking, wet a HOOK!
