Need the 411 basics on these things if anybody has any experience with them. Planted two in some large pots on our shaded front porch area. Don't have any experience with them. Do you water the foliage and let it stand where it collects or the root base is one question I have for sure.

Here you are ... ! That ought to cover most of the basics, I will say that your best bet is a good epiphyte soilless mixture.

Keep water in the Brachts, distilled or rain water is far better than tap water. Once a month, feed with diluted miracle grow. Dilute 5 to one over the normal concentration. When it blooms like the one in the picture, the main stem will soon die. But new babies propogate off the side of the main stem. Cut them off and repot and they'll do fine on their own.

I was told by the guys who service the plants in our building not to water them fromthe top, as this is an easy way of pathagens to infect the plant.
Water the soil with luke warm water but don't soak it, once a week is usually fine.
And feed on occasion .... but I never feed ours .... and it sproatted all over the place.
