View Full Version : lake livingston?
I've never fished Lake Livingston and need recommendations on where to take my family for a day of cat fishing. I've been reading reports of all the cats being caught on bulkheads; does the state park have any? Any recommendations of locations that can be reached w/o a boat are appreciated.
Thanks

KIKO:
Lake Livingston State Park on the east side of the lake just out of the city of Livingston and Wolf Creek Park on the west side of the lake just out of Coldspring both have fishable bulk heads and are both nice places to take the family.

as of last week the shad where still running in the mornings. From about 6 am to 9 am depending. You can go to the free boat ramp on fm2436 (old 190 rd). and fish from there, or just about anywhere. Back in the day, the big 190 bridge was a good place to fish from. you can still fish off the bridge but you have to walk or let somebody drop you off.
as for my luck it hasn't been too good. but I know when the shad are running theres a good chance to catch a mess of cats.

Wolf Creek Park is one of the best catfishing spots without a boat I have been to in this area. There are RV spot, tent spot, or just fishing for the day. I usually go up at night and hook my lights up to one of the RV outlets and hardly ever come home with less than an icechest full of kitties. Mapquest it to find out how to get there. Send us a report afterwards!!!

All good spots, I favor the State Park, it is one of the nicest places on the lake for families and good fishing. The bulkhead and rocks that are close to the ramp by the swimming pool has been holding cats early in the morning and lots of shad.
Thanks to everyone for the advise. I'll see if i can make it this weekend.
