Livingston 4-15 birthday cats

The Lufkin crew called me last night and wanted to know if I was done with my taxes and ready to fish, I said yes, and yes.
Today is my birthday, in the future you can remember it easy, tax deadline day. So I got up way earlier than I guess I ever have on my BD and launched at the state park. Two guys were at the ramp at 6:15 trying to get shad with no luck. I figured they would be a little deeper from the cool weather and told them to try a little deeper. I went over to the rocks past the pier by the other ramp and in one throw got shad for the day. When I got back to the ramp the 2 guys were getting shad off the end of the ramp pier.

It was about what I thought, the fish were not up on the bank right at daylight but started showing up around 8:00 and soon we were putting cats in the boat, all channel cats(1 blue) and a good size to them. By 10:00 it was over so we went to Florida's and chowed down. Looks to me like the shallow bite is on, it just got knocked back a little from the cool nights and the high pressure yesterday. Going again tomorrow and looking forward to catching more, they are a lot of fun up in the skinny water. Today 2 or 3 of them jumped clear out of the water when hooked.

Thanks to everybody for the birthday wishes. I have meet a lot fine folks through the message board.
Dead weight I just dont know about this weekend, my guess is the bite is on and if the temps dont drop, or a high pressure system move in, they should still bite. I hope you catch a bunch!

I was out on the main lake early this morning looking for Stripers with live bait...didn't find them today but I'm convinced they can be found.

Around 10:00 gave up and went over by Pine Island and trolled for whites...and found them. Good to find the whites active on the main lake again. Should only get better and better.

Thanks MDLK, that is good news on the white bass! BTW, I see stripers blow up on the shad every now and then when I'm catching catfish this time of year. They seem to stay off the bank about 60 yards and I dont ever take time away from the cats to try them, as the cats get right on the bank and dont stay there long. Maybe some live bait fished out where they are would catch them. They appear to cut out of there pretty quick, even quicker than the cats, who usually stop by 9:30 to 10:00.
That's right Ditto, those tops make it tolerable to fish in rain, if they are biting I rather be there than on the couch.

Happy B-Day Loy. I caught a few whites last Friday on the 190. Caught two blues to 4lbs trolllin. Not alot of bait out there yet. Fish were hungry.

Its your birthday,its your birthday (so that is why everything is so jittery on April 15th), what better way to spend your special day doing what you like....catching fish. WTG brother-tyring to get out there myself-but work geet in the way(getting OT while it last and pay gooooood!-never know what might happen next). Look forward to your next report.
