Remote control enthusiasts are set to land Saturday at the Brazoria County Modeler’s Association flying field near Oyster Creek.

The association will hold its first fly-in for 3-D flying, a contest where remote-controlled planes perform tight aerial stunts, said Kerry Hurt, the association’s president.

“These aircraft are going to be doing a lot of weird-looking maneuvers,” he said.

The event is free and any hobbyist can participate, Hurt said.

“You can show up and fly what you bring,” he said.

Those who perform 3-D stunts will be given preference to fly first, he said.

This is the first time the modelers’ association is hosting a fly-in for 3-D flying, Hurt said.

The event will start at 8 a.m. Saturday and last all day at the flying field, which is on the east side of FM 523, one mile north of Oyster Creek.
