Start by going to this link and filling everything out, and keeping it updated.

https://www.exxonmobil-employment.com/ (Click on the e-employment link.)

Also there is a company in the clear lake area , called "Certified Staffing" or something to that nature. And they do a lot of placement for plants in this area.

My wife works at Pasadena Refining (Old CROWN plant) and said they are going to be hiring soon. They use Skill Master in Pasadena for their aplication process. Good luck to him.

Tell him:
I got my degree (process technology) three years ago...have been an operator for three years now and love it. He made a good choice. When I tested for my current job, there were nearly six hundred people in there. The top forty scores went to take the simulator test (COBRA) on another day. They interviewed twenty of us and hired five. They wanted ten, but only picked five and said they were not settling on anything less than the best. So, interview skills are key. Go to as many interviews as you can, if only for the practice.
I heard that BP Texas City is about to hire a bunch of operators... that would be a good place to try. Also, I heard tale that at the Celanese/Oxea plant in Bay City, Oxea may be hiring a few operators in the coming months. That's where I started before moving over to Chevron Phillips. Once you get an operator job and a little experience, it is easier to get on with other companies.

Remember- the thing they want to hear most in an interview is your high regards for working safely. Also, be ready to give examples of times in your life when you had to make decisions and lead. That's the kind of questions they like to ask....along with trying to get you to tell on yourself about something you've done and how you corrected it.

Exxon Baytown is going to hire, BP Texas city is hiring, Formossa (spelling) is hiring, along with the above listed. I have been an Operator since 1989 and it has provided a very good living for my family and myself. Good luck I hope this helps..
