First Position is Plant Operator
Summary:
Responsible for the day to day operations and maintenance support duties and troubleshooting of the plant and building mechanical systems.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Develop competency in operations of existing plant facilities to ensure that unplanned outages are minimized. Make recommendations to the Chief Engineer or Lead Operating Engineer to enhance reliability and plant performance.
Work with the Chief Engineer to perform maintenance programs and procedures.
Develop an understanding of troubleshooting plant and building interface systems. Work in a safe manner while following applicable regulatory requirements.
Follow plant operational procedures to ensure the accomplishment of plant production goals. Monitor and report on system performance to meet or exceed plant production goals.
Investigate, take corrective action, and report on plant outages in an effort to minimize impact to customer services. Manage outage timetables that optimize cost effectiveness while insuring reliability.
Develop proficiency as a plant operator in conjunction with cultivating skills in the calibration and troubleshooting of automation, power, and building interface systems.
As the shift schedule dictates, will be available on a 24 hour basis, to assist in emergency situations and fill vacancies in the shift rotation as directed by the Operations Supervisor.
Track and log operational system status using applicable journals and control system tools. Understand system-operating requirements, identify trends, perform routine analysis and make recommendations for operating adjustments.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED is required. Additional studies and courses in a technical discipline would be a plus. Training, licenses, or certifications in plant operations considered advantageous.
Experience:
One (1) to five (5) years experience in operations, maintenance and troubleshooting of central heating and cooling plants. Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems is expected.
Experience with large scale plant automation, startup, commissioning, and energy management activities is a plus.
Experience in a service oriented environment preferred.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Certifications, and Licenses:
1st, 2nd, or 3rd Grade City of Houston stationary engineers license may be required.
Highly professional ethical standards are expected.
Must be self motivated and proactive to seek methods to change and /or enhance plant environment.
Willing to work any hours necessary to assure plant operations are conducted in a reliable method.
Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License.
Ability to write clear, concise, and complete reports.
Relates well with all kinds of people; uses diplomacy and tact.
Ability to recognize and solve problems; finds common ground.
Bottom-line oriented; advocate for company.
Ability to handle multiple task or assignments at the same time.
Physical Requirements:
Plant environment. Some travel required. Flexibility to rotational hours, 24 hour on call duty and locations required.

Second Position is Apprentice Plant Operator
Summary:
While under the supervision of the Lead Plant Operator, generally responsible for day to day maintenance support duties and train to assume additional responsibilities. Apprentice operators will work under the direction of a 1st grade Stationary Engineer and a Maintenance Electrician until such time such licenses are obtained.
Will report to the Production Superintendent or Lead Plant Operator.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Responds to customer service calls regarding complaints, emergencies, and breakdowns.
Performs plant maintenance and repairs such as, but not limited to; changing lights, plumbing repairs, air conditioning calls, plant readings, customer calls and minor electrical repairs.
Performs preventive maintenance on plant equipment such as but, not limited to; changing filters, grease bearings, replacing fan belts, and operational checks of equipment.
Performs cleaning and painting of plant and customer equipment and respective areas.
As the shift schedule dictates, will be available on a 24-hour a day basis, to assist in emergency situations.
Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Production Superintendent.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED is required. Additional studies and courses towards a degree in a technical discipline advantageous. Training, licenses, or certifications in plant operations considered advantageous.
Experience:
Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems is expected.
CFC License and/or Electrical Maintenance License a plus
Additional Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Certifications, and Licenses:
License: CFC and/or Electrical Maintenance license, a plus
Highly professional ethical standards are required.
Must be self-motivated and proactive.
Willing to work any hours necessary to assure plant operations are conducted in a reliable method.
Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.
Ability to write clear, concise, and complete reports.
Relates well with all kinds of people; uses diplomacy and tact.
