We went out the day before Christmas and caught these on rod and reel.
12/24 6 reds 10 blues
12/26 6 reds 1 blue
12/28 6 reds 2 blues
QUESTION: the last trip I caught a blue 36" long x 24" around the belly.
How much would you think it weighted? I didn't have my camera or my scales in the boat. I released it. Caught them up the Neches river past Port Neches park fishing the bayous on the north side of the river.

Using the formula of length times girth squared, divided by 800, about 25 1/2 pounds.......This is the standard formula when you have only the length and girth of a fish....Its pretty accurate.

We caught them past bessie h. around Uni-cal back in the marsh on cut shad. I caught one a long time ago that was 28# on a cork, he didn't look as big as this one. I guessed him at 30-35#. He will probaly be about 35# you know how fisherman are suppost to LIE!

Blues look bigger than they are lots of times. Really pretty, and you got a really nice fish. I recently caught one 34 inches long, do not remember the girth, but the weight was 18.5#...that being said, 2 inches longer make for a lot bigger fish around, my guess would be 25#, but could be up to 30. Great catch in anyones book. Glad you turned her loose to spawn and be caught by another angler to make their day too.
