Had a hard time finding bait today, castnetted for 30 mins. with 3 mullet and a goo to show for.Saw a bunch of turkeys in an area so I headed over there. Water depth was 18 ft. my graph lit up with fish from top to btm. as my net settled I could feel the shad or mullet.Man it was heavy, too my suprise it was catfish. How many catfish can you net in a 7 ft. net.1.5 hrs. later my final count was 67 ranging from 4 inches to 12 inches.Last time I threw the net. the day turned out great despite the rain.caught another limit of nice cats will post later.

here are the pics of the ones caught. I wish I had a pic of the castnet with all those cats in it. Tomorrow my little fishing buddy will be with me.I hated leaving him home today but momma said no due to the weather.

What kind of catfish are those?

If they are blues, yellow or channels I don't think you can take them legally with a cast net in fresh water. Cause only non-game fish maybe taken in fresh water. In saltwater on non-game fish maybe be taken for bait.

The limit I caught was on r/r with cut mullet. the 67 that was caught in the net were 4 inches to 12 inches long. All were released. sorry for the confusion.the cats on r/r were way bigger.

I am sorry, I misunderstood. I was thinking you caught them in the cast net. I would hate to hear anyone get ticketed for caughting fish by illegal method.

Man, I'm glad I didn't have to pick all those catfish out of that cast net. I know that was a nightmare. That's a nice mess of cats that you caught on rod and reel.
