If you are going off the bank, you can try Duessen Park southeast of Summerwood. This is free but only open to 9:00PM. There is Lake Houston Marina off of 1960, cost $10 per car and but is open 24 hours.

If you are going by boat, you can try at either fork on the northside of the lake. Also by boat, you can try south of the dam but you would have to lunch from a ramp on the river side.

Yea, the ramp fee thee is outrageous. Took the wife and daughter to the lake a couple of months ago and launched from LHM. Really surprised at that fee.
I have heard that getting to the fork from LHM is kind of tricky, rumors true?

just take your time or follow someone the first trip up,, stay in the middle of the channels.. Don't not take the first right channel which is Luces Bayou unless you wanna hit bottom till you learn it.. the east fork is Ok and Caney can be tricky.. not good cat areas though,, crappie, whites, and Black bass area. the west fork is Ok too if you get lucky and find them or have a area chummed.

Fish the main lake anyway for cats. find the channel right now and fish the drop offs. Between the 1960 bridge and the RR track on the east side of the lake.. find the channel about 300 hundred yards from the RR track and fish the east side using fresh shad or chicken liver,, any other info you want you need to pm me.. Below the dam is OK right now but a little slow.
