View Full Version : Pointers?
I recently bought new 18ft aluminum boat and I'm going to take my adult son fishing at Choke over the Thanksgiving holidays. A friend and me caught a few there a couple of weeks ago but it was kinda slow. Long story short I haven't caught many and if anyone would give me some pointers on rod & reel fishing I would apprieate it. We're going to stay 2 nights. Also I don't have any electronics on my boat (hopefully Santa Clause will fix that) ;)
Nevermind, I'll figure it out.
Last time we caught quite a few fish but most were on the small side. You think this time of year it would be better in all the brush toward the frio or in the open water. We were using Catfish Charlie on rod/reel & either soap or beef liver on the lines. Our catch was pretty much equal between them. Any idaes?

Try deeper water....fish are shallow but majority will be deep. Fish the river channel in 30-60 ft of water with Big Marv's or cut bait. If the river channel isn't happening try the oppsum creek mouth in 25 ft of water. Good electronics will help you out tremendously when you get them down there.
Tight lines and good fishin

I second the Big Marvs in deep water. Works for us. This time of year in about 30-60 feet of water. Good luck!
