Well the weather man finally got this one right! Made a rough weekend with six to eight foot waves crashing the bulkhead and two to four foot seas in the main lake Saturday. Our tent survived the 30-40 mph winds, but many of the awnings on the RV's in the campground were not so lucky. I set the jugs out Friday afternoon in 20-25 foot and spot checked that evening getting 15 cats to 3 pounds. Prayed all day Saturday that my jugs wouldn't end up at the dam. Was able to check them this morning and only lost ten. The remaining jugs - I pulled off 12 football size cats with several going 5-8 pounds. Hooked on jugs..... This made my weekend. Thanks to everyone that responded in my previous post. Now I have two questions... 1) How big of pieces should I cut the beef heart and 2) How long of lines do you recommend in the deep water?

Congrats on the nice catch of kittys. That was a good haul. dbullard is the man to answer those questions best, or gator gar, but I usually fish mine from floating to 30'. After that it's too much line to wrap for me. I have lost some anchored jugs fishing flats next to really deep water by big cats dragging them off into water deeper than my lines. So I put them in water that has the same depth all around.

The park was great, my boy had a good time with putt-putt, the playground and riding bikes throughout the park. The restrooms were well-kept also which pleased the better half.here are some more action pics.

good job!As far as the beef heart goes it depends Gator Gar cuts them in about 1/2 inch squares.I use them from 1/2 inch square to longer strips 1"x2".As far as line goes it depends on how deep you want to fish.If you are fishing flagging jugs you need about five feet longer then depth you plan on fishing that way if it is ruff you can leave more slack to keep them from flagging from the waves.Too much line is better than not enough just let out what you need and put a half hitch in it.

Whoa that is a rough lake crashing on the catfish spot. Right by that sign in early spring you can catch nice blues from bank early in the morning.
