I asked the same question recently and was resoundly told no no no! Apparently it's just a mudhole used for irrigation.

launch at Whites park, just south of I-10 behind DJ's store on Turtle bayou(I think). I have caught crappie all the way to the lake. It looks really bass and catfishy too., I 've never tried it for those yet. The bayou is plenty deep the way to the lake and very scenic. Good luck

We caught some nice blue cats out of that mudhole used for irrigation, today. Most were caught in Turtle Bayou. I have caught some beautiful blue cats in the lake. The lake is very shallow though, but there are cats all over the lake.

Hmmm, maybe someone was protecting their secret hole! I am going to give turtle bayou a try this weekend between sessions of bay fishing.

Yeah, you have to watch some of these post real close and analyze the responses even closer. I can tell you that there are catfish in the lake and I have seen some nice ones taken out of there, since I was the one doing the taking.
I will also tell you that the lake is very shallow in 90% of the lake. i'm talking 2-8 feet all across the lake. depends on how much rain we have had. Turtle bayou is a different story.14-19 feet is the normal depth, depending on rain amounts.
There are plenty of fish there and when the bite is on you can load up. I
have on the other hand, left there very dis-appointed too.
Good luck on your trip.

Thanks gator!
I am going to give it a go... will post Tuesday results of the weekend.
How's I-10 looking. My mother just called and said don't come down, they are evacuating New Orleans and the Highway will be a mess.
I am thinking about coming anyway, been planning this trip for a month...
