I fished livingston a little this weekdend. First time being on this lake. i am a primary saltwter guy. We camped at wolf creek park. Had a blast with the kids and everyone swimming and playing. Me and my brother-in-law toke the boat out and ran acros to pine islad to try for some stripers trolling (no luck). Tried for some cats coupl of small ones there. Sonar took a **** on me and I was SOL for finding a decent hole. i loved the lae and plan on trying to go once a month or so. looking for some tips on findingsome of these big cats or other fish. Would love to buddy boat with someone one weekend. All in all fun time on the lake with the family an plenty of COLD beer.

Check for posts on trolling for Livingston White Bass. THere are several regulars here that fish Livingston alot. My folks have a house right across from Wolf Creek, and they go up most weekends. Try trolling a Jet Diver with a silver or gold #13 pet spoon about 3 feet behind the Jet Diver. Definitely need a fish finder, to find the drop offs that are holding fish. The SW side of Pine Island has worked well for me, but the fish (Whites) tend to move around so finding the depth changes is the key, along with finding schools on the fish finder. Keep an eye out for feeding birds, sure sign of Whites schooling on top. Don't seem to see that like I remember we used to....but maybe I'm just turning into and old fisherman (lol!).

As for cats, lots of good info here too on jug lines for cats. Fishing at night off the bulkheads in Wolf Creek can be good for cats too. Wolf Creek is (in my opinion anyhow) a pretty nice place to camp. Spend a few weekends there before my folks bought the house.

Well, hope that helps and good luck to you.

Fishin Soldier I would suggest if you are rod and reel fishing to try drift fishing in an area.
that is holding shad.Drift cut shad Carolina rigged along drop offs and humps 10-30ft.
Also you can try to locat some structure in the same depths and try it.A fun way is to free float jugs.Take a white bottle tie a line 18"-36" with a hook on it bait with shad throw them out kick back and watch em. I like to throw them out and drift with them and fish a rod or two will drifting.Hope this helps and good luck.

You might also try drifting the same type of area that dbullard mentioned for cats with a line with a float and cut shad or whole small shad about 18" under the float.

there are two of the best out there....if you ll read some of my post you ll get some white bass info. but not around the end your at. So you wanna put the kiddos on some fish...heres what I would do. do you know where walkers lake is? well out there generally in the middle of the lake.. northeast of wolfe creek ..is the trinity river. Also alot of stumps. If you can go the the east side of the stumps almost at the south end. there is a stump with a pole (rod) next to it, due east right next to the stump is the trinity river and then a drop off that goes from 32 ft up to 15 ft. If you are in the right spot there is another stump east of the stump with rod next to it about 50 yard and a little (not much) north. that drop off is pretty good at times, but if you ll find that spot, then the stump that is off the the east ...from it go due north about 150 yds...you ll see again your in the the trinity river 35 ft.....and you will come to a drop off again going from 35 ft up to 14 ft. you should notice the stump you left back to the south of you and you should see two stump to the north (smaller stumps and about 75 yds to the north). the one futherest east is the one you want. If you line up the stump to the south and the stump to the north and get on that drop off....thats always a good area. also I have found the white schooling out there quite a bit in the afternoons. ok i am not done yet....from there if you ll go due north again about 300 yds or 1/2 mile you ll come across the old 190 bridge. to find it there is a stump in the middle of nowhere with nothing around it (small stump) usually has a bird on it. to the west about 75 yds a just about 10 yds south you should find the old 190....a way i find it is once i find the trinity river bottom i run along the east side of the bank.....it will go from 22 ft to 12 ft and then drop off quickly. on the point where the old road bed meets the trinity river theres a good spot then about 50 yds to the east on the road bed there is a slight turn and thats a good spot too. oh what i usually do is get lime green slabs then anchor on top of the drop off. i bounce the slab up or down the drop off depend where the boat stops. I am fixin to get down there around pine island...i know where to fish there too.....but I usually don't make it down that far. good luck
Hey gm....i was like you the last two years but this year I have had the whites schooling around me many of times....even several times where they where schooling and i was casting right in the middle of them and coming up with nothing. also a couple of time where it was just little white bass....which makes me believe we ll have a good crop next year. also I have had them schooling on me in funny places...the place in this post near walkers lake usually is the best place but this year i have had them schooling over near penwaugh in the heat of summer....so they are out there!
