Spent the week of 7/23 to 7/29 with my buddy at L Palestine....we had trouble finding fish the first three days...finally found some keeper catfish on the old roadbed by the 155 bridge. our count for the 5 days a fishing was..6,5,6,18 and 29.....Keeper catfish. And we kept them all, for both our fish supplies were approaching -0-, a bad situation for fish eating families.

Still a great time had by all.....ahhhhh, I wasn't going to tell this part, but I guess I will....the chair in the front of the boat broke, and guess who went over backwards into the drink. Nope, wasn't Glenn, my fishing buddy. Funny thing....it seemed to happen in slow motion, and as I was going over backwards, I was mentally inventorying my pockets to see what would get wet....left keys with chip at the house...good, left wallet at the house....good, 1/2 pack of cigs will get doused...not so bad...have new sealed pack in right pocket...lighter will get wet....not so bad..keep back up in tackle box....fishing lisc, in right pocket...it will survive...KASPALSH!!

As I went overboard backwards I grasped both sides of the boat, and kinda rotated upside down with head underwater, and butt pointed at the sky...took a few seconds to realize this position is untenable, and turned loose, and rotated on down in the water. A couple of strokes and I was back up, none the worse for wear...Hardest part was getting my fishing buddy to stop asking me "Are you all right?" and turn lose of my collar!! LOL Went around to the stern and climbed back up and in the boat. Lost...one set sunglasses....1/2 pack of Marl light 100s.

But the lesson learned here was pretty handy. We both wear those kinda thin, green Columbia fishing shirts...when wet, they really cool you off. For the next couple of hours we were dipping them in the water.. and they acted nearly like air conditioning..in the 100 deg weather!!

Nearly every trip we make has something hiliarous happen, and kinda a never ending comedy!!

Good Fishing all !!

Nice report. Reminded of a fall I took last summer off a dock I was building. Its amazing how slow the fall seems and how fast the thoughts go through your brain. Really amazing.
