I'm making a trip up to Lake Brownwood this weekend and its been a while since I have done any serious catfishing. What is the bed rig to use off of a rod and reel? I do alot of saltwater fishing so i have most of the surf leader gear. Thanks for your help in advance.

If u want to cork fish then go to wal-mart and get some orange, and finger lingth. the corks have some small weights on them so u dont have to put one on there.

The lake is mostly channel cats I would down size your redfish gear a small slip sinker above a swivle and about a 12" leader with a treble hook and good punch bait or stink bait.

FIREBOY,

I CATFISH ALL THE TIME AND I USE CIRCLE HOOKS ON ROD AND REEL ,THROW LINES,JUG LINES,AND TROT LINES. THEY MAKE A BETTER HOOK ON THAN REGULAR HOOKS. ALSO I'LL TELL YOU A SECRET, I DON'T USE BAIT.
I USE 3/8THS DOW ROD 2 INCHES LONG SOAKED FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS WITH VANILLA EXTRACT. NO KIDDING. DRILL A SMALL HOLE ON ON END OF THE DOW,JUST BIG ENOUGH FOR THE HOOK BARB.RUN THE HOOK THROUGH THE HOLE AND YOU ARE READY. IT WORKS,TRY IT. THE CATFISH
LOVE IT. BE SURE TO USE RUBBER GLOVE TO PUT ON THE BAIT BECAUSE THE VANILLA EXTRACT WILL STAY ON YOUR FINGERS FOR DAYS.. GOOD LUCK.

Use carolina rig. Tie a spider hitch with a nice sized wide gap circle hook. Then a one ounce pyrmid sinker..if there not biting i would try reeling it in VERY slowly on the bottom. Usually they will pick it up and come towards you. So it looks like your line is comin towards you, haha pretty funny sight. Then just reel up on em.
