Fishing Sat. night with Brett Radabaugh of Cattales Guide Service www.3rdshiftfishing.com. Watched a beautiful sunset
over Lake Conroe and set out for some catfishing. We ended up with 30+ channel cats. The last place we stopped was non-stop action for about 30 mins. Had a few triple hook-ups and several doubles. The catfish were stacking up on the bulkheads that were facing the wind. I highly recommend using Brett, he's awesome person and guide. His contact info is below. I've fished with Brett a few times.

What were you using for bait and how close to the bulkheads were you fishing, and depth?

I went fishing Saturday evening and caught the biggest Channel Cat I have ever caught he was 24 inches. Big for me must have weighed 8 or 9 pounds.

We were using a stinkbait, anchored of the bulkheads about 30 yrds and casting towards the bulkhead. The biggest channel that was caught was 20.5. Had one sitting on the ice chest that weighed an easy 5lbs put decided to start flopping around and stick the guide in his hand which caused him to let go momentarily let go so it escaped.
Congrats on your catch!

I am going to have to try that one afternoon after work this week. I have been fishing the 1097 bridge pilings and chumming with field cubes. Did yall chum? The only thing I don't like about it is if you don't chum the fishing sucks and after you chum the bite is intense for 10-15 minutes then you have to move. If I could find a place like the bulkheads where they are anyway then I could have a study catch without the constant chumming. Thanks for the Congrats! Congrats to you sounds like you had a blast.

Do you mind if I ask what Bulk heads? Or does it matter as long as they are on the wind blown side? Took my wife and son out Saturday moring used Danny King punch bait and cought 5. This is our 5th trip to conroe, still trying to learn the lake I guess. We are ready to get on some serius fish like that.

We didn't chum. The bulks heads we used were close to deep water, roads, river bed, and sandy bottom. The wind was pushing the blankton which then brought on the shad, etc. We were out on the main lake most of the time.

I haven't fished with Brett, but I can atest that he is a heckuva nice guy. His son is one of my son's best friends. He loves spending the night at Brett's house. I'm glad to hear he is keeping busy since the loss of his wife.

I hope to get Brett to take the boys out for fishing soon.

I can't agree more! He's struggling with the loss of his wife but he's back to doing what he's passionate about.

i have one hole i fish up above 1097 that i use bream about 3-4 inch range and catch the heck out of big blue cat, if you don't know the lake very well watch out, i was up there when the water was 3 foot low and could really see all the stump that are there, and found how to run the north end, but i still thing people are crazy when i see them skiing where all the stumps are at. about 4 weeks ago now was fishing with bream and end up catching a 11 pound bass, that was cool let him go.
