nice good eating fish. Did you use shad up against the bulk heads or punch bait?

Release to the grease!

These fish were caught off one of our baited brushpiles, in 20 ft. I had bought a box of worms for my 6 year-old to catch some big bream, but he ended up catching more catfish than bream.

We use range cubes in mesh bags. Usually takes less than an hour to get them coming to it. For years we found or made brushpiles for crappie and bass, (I've been fishing Conroe sinse the mid seventies), but then Bigonegotaway (Big David) started catfishing on these brushpiles and we been keeping our freezers full ever since. Most of our brushpiles are on ledges or points in 15 - 25 foot of water. But you can find some good dropoffs or points on the main or feeder creeks or fish on tank dams. You don't have to have brush to catch catfish.

One thing I have noticed is that when we get the catfish baited up good, we seldom catch crappie. I usually always have my jig rig handy and I always have to try to catch crappie or big bluegills. We used to use shad but found them kind of hard to come by lately unless you get there really early and catch them around the docks with lights. So, we started using the cheesebait mainly for convienence. We use light tacle spinning rigs to make it a little more "sporty".
