I went Saturday with dad, my son, a couple of nephews and one of their sons. We hit the water at 6:00 and it was smooth as glass, after boating 4 nice blues we thought we were in for a great day. Lee, my son, mentioned the roll of low clouds to the North and we commented on it with awe, it looked really cool, and it was! When it hit the boat it was like a light switch being thrown, cold air, strong winds, and the switch worked for the catfish as well. They stopped completly. We lost 2 anchors that got dug in too tight to retrive, and had to round the jetty to get out of the wind. Scratched out about a dozen whites trolling and went in.
Today I had off so I got up very early and launched while it was drizzling. the whites were hungry and in no time I had my limit plus a few blues on jugs. then the rain began for real so I called it a day. The whites were eating rattle traps again.

Hey Shadslinger,

When do you put in on Livingston to get the small kiddos on some cats/whites? Plan on going next weeknd after MDAY to take my niece/nephew. They get bored easy if there is no action-any advise. I believe in take the young one fishing, so you won't have to fish for them later as they get older (they'll be in boat with me)

I take novices to the state park, there is great fishing all around the end of the jetty and between the jetty and the bulkhead to the North. Try trolling rattle traps or the large size "Little Georges" around the end of the jetty for white bass. If they will not cooperate try trolling with jet divers and pet spoons to the South of the jetty in 25' of water in front of the lake homes all the way down to the first point to the South.
If that fails try catfishing close to the jetty rocks or between the jetty and the bulkhead to the North by anchoring in 30' where you can cast to the river channel that is 60' deep. the best catfishing will be on the slope of the river channel itself. Good luck and give us a report.

do the cats spawn in the jetty rocks. We catch them on Rayburn on the rocks at the bridges but up close in 3 foot of water. They spawn in the rocks there so I was thinking maybe they do the same thing on Livingston.

Yes they do I have been catching mostly channel cats on the jetty rocks at Livingston by the state park. They have been really full of ripe eggs the last couple of times out. You have to cast right up on the rocks to do any good, they get up close and personel to the rocks when they are ready to spawn
