beef hearts stays on and can be frozen and saved. chicken liver does good but doesnt last in the fridge and too squishy when frozen then thawed. Live shad is best if you have a cast net and cut dead shad stays on the hook good. Cut perch.

i don't know what i typed, teach me to type and talk on the phone at the same time. Yeah, anything easy that stays on the hook is always good with kids. thanks for the replys.

I second the shrimp choice. That would be table/eating shrimp, not the junk in the little box that some small stores sell for bait. Fish with no weight, or if you have to have weight use a slip sinker, but it is preferred to use no weight.

As some have mentioned, bait caught using a cast net can be good. I have seen, in a private lake around 3 acres, that I could not catch the cats unless I caught some small live perch to use as bait. But then again, these were 20+ pounders.

It also does not hurt to bring some night crawlers to switch over to catching small perch if the cats aren't biting and the kids get bored. Of course, cats will eat them too.

Good luck.
