I sure hope y'all where out on the lake today. If not you really missed a good day of fishing. Saturday, I got smart and done yard work as I watched the waves roll in from the north. But today, I got my lazy self out of my nice comfieee bed, and headed out at the break of day. Good thing too, I started fishing at 6 a.m. and finished at 6 p.m. Generally, catching fish all day. Catfish in the morning 10 total. then white bass the rest of the day. Caught probably 50 white bass but keep a total of 15. So about 25 fish all day, but few boring moments.
I have pic's and I ll edit and attach them when my eyes quit rolling in back of my head.........

That is a good day fishing BEC, I remember being able to stay all day, seems along time ago now. The whites are getting on a better bite down on my end of the lake and getting more size to them as well. I caught about 35 this morning and kept a limit of nice 12" to 13" hard fighters from 6:00 am to 8:00 am, plus a few blues on jugs.

Shad what did you mean when you said the blues will start to spawn now.....will they move to shallow water to lay their eggs? I havent caught any in awhile with eggs in them. I hope the shad go a little longer that has been so much fun.
Gator gar.......wow! Now thats a gator. Actually I believe we have some behind my cabin close to that. I haven't seen them in awhile since livingston water has came back up. And I ve seen people swim back there. I don't swim behind the cabin. Did you read on the internet the other day where a guy picked up a six foot gator on side of the road. Yea put the gator in his car and was bring it to a friends house till the sherrif pulled him over for...yea you guessed it...making an illegal turn...not because of the 6 ft gator in the back window. The guy was on meth. I think....either way I am not missing with that fellow. true story I believe in Alvin....it was just in the news. I don't play with snakes or gators. don't play with sharks either....I like my limbs. Hey i have a question for ya...whats the best way to sharpen electric knife blades? I burn through about 2 sets a year because they get dull. Any advice?
and slime on the line.....i see ya. I going to catch up with y'all at the south end soon....i feel a pine island trip coming up. Wet deck here I come.

I sure have been seeing alot of people on the lake....jugs everywhere....I was going to post this "you know its a good day fishing when the gals are screaming in the boats. "I ve got another one" famous line.

And one last thing I have a fisherman's prayer hanging on my cabin wall....never really read it.....to busy..but got a chance the other day ......and made me smile......can't remember the whole thing which i ll write it down and share it......but it ended something like

when I finally lay down to sleep,
I hope the good lord finds me big enough to keep.

BEC, it seems to me that the shad spawn before the blues with channel cats right behind them, then the blues. I am not sure where, what depth they spawn, because when they are really ripe with eggs(soon) I catch the big ones out by the hump. I bait with big chunks of cut bait and anchor on the hump and throw out to the deeper water. It seems that I catch them right on the slope of the hump where it goes from 21' to 50' on a steep slope. I hear of others catching them on bulkheads, but not as big as the ones I catch out in the midlake area on humps.
