Since the bay looks like chocolate milk we are going to try the bulkheads at Conroe. We have never fished this lake before.I got a map and it shows a public ramp at the end of hwy 830.Is this a good place to launch?I was thinking launch at the 830 ramp and depending on the wind go south, catch some bait and fish the bulkheads on the east side.Does anybody use Danny Kings bait on the bulkheads?Seven coves breakwater looks to be a good place to start???????

If I am way off with this plan would somebody care to point me in the right direction?

830 Launch in used a lot especially on the weekends. The cove you are talking about does hold cats. I caught one there on a jug a couple of weeks ago that went 42#. Still crusing the area waiting for you to catch it next. While you are in the area watch for the HB's to chase the shad to the surface early in the morning. Small Mansfield Mauler or Rattle Trap will do the job.
Good luck on the trip and take pics and post the results.

830 is a busy place now that Anchorage marina has closed. But if you get there early it's a good spot to launch. Good luck, and be patient. Look for shad working early...Dale

What happened to Anchorage marina? When did it close and will it open back up?

It's being renovated.

Sounds like you have a plenty workable plan. I have a friend that does really well on punch bait on the bulkheads, I just prefer shad as it's less messy and will catch hybrids.

Anchorage marina is now The Palms marina. They are hoping to reopen to the public in mid-June. Check out the web site.

I have launched from 830 many times and have had good luck in that area. I have used Danny Kings and it does work pretty well on that lake. Just be patient. Good luck and look forward to having a good report!
