well, there's lake travis. and then there's lake travis.
drive to New Braunfels and dive the Comal river. It's real shallow but interesting. Go through tube shoot in dive gear - it's lotsa fun an you get some strange looks.

Lake Travis....Brrrrr
Windy Point is pretty nice and you don't need a boat. There are some grottos along the cliff face that's about 80-100' down. Starnes Island is good, lots of vertical terrain, you'll need a boat. My favorite is Devil's Cove but only because of the treasure hunting. You can recover about 10 pairs of sunglasses per tank along with assorted towels, hats, shirts and an occasional anchor. BTW, the visability sucks in Devils Cove. You'll be using the braille method to find treasure.
April and May are the months that have the best vis.
dont forget about Canyon Lake. It is as clear or clearer than Travis at times. Northpark
has a dive platform and some cars to check out.. San marcos river is good as well. shallow.. but clear. We used to do night dives there..

gaudi, it's just to darn cold to be diving this time of year. Post up again this summer and maybe some of us 2coolers can get together.

I'll go when it gets warmer. what do you think the water temp at 60-80 feet is now? 55? Sounds a little cold for my 3mm. There were HUGE catfish last time I went to the scuba park at windy point about 3 years ago. We fed them chunks of hotdogs and they loved it. There was a great private scuba park several years ago (4-6) that had all kinds of stuff underwater to check out but I heard that they closed up shop. I got to dive there two times and it was great anyone else dive there? I think it was owned by Don Broad or something like that and you had to come with a divemaster from dive dive shop cost around $20.00. is what I remember.

Scott,
You'll need a full 7mm and hood to dive at this time of the year. And yes, Scuba Park has been closed for a few years now. Don Broad retired and has moved from the Austin area. His docks and equipment were sold to a guy that I can't remember his name offhand and moved to the other side of the lake. We had a standing invitation to dive Scuba Park whenever we wanted since my company had subcontracted alot of underwater work to Don. He was a very interesting guy, he either liked you or he didn't and I think many people were intimidated by him. Funny, but when I think about him now, I kinda miss him.

I had actually not even thought about the water temp, having done most of my diving in Fl I didn't even think about it, but good point
Maybe this summer..............
Late night cat fish spearfishing would be fun.....................not that I would do it because it would be illegal I am shure.
