I'll e-mail Jim and see if he's going to do the tournament but my guess is he won't. If somebody is going to keep this thing alive, its going to have to be those of us on this board.

Personally, there are a lot of offshore tournaments. The money raising aspect of this tournament is just about gone with the death of the A&M tagging program. Not sure if keeping the offshore division is worth it or just converting it to an all tarpon tournament for trophies and then lowering the entry cost to just cover BBQ and trophies. I know the raffle is a big draw but it may not be worth the hassle...

Thoughts???

I like the way it has worked at Teakwood over the years - so it takes an extra half-hour to reach open water - maybe an earlier start? Also think the offshore division needs to stay. It has always been the larger class relative to numbers of entrants and some of the catches have been terriffic. The kingfish winners some years would make the SKA boys blush. I am going to see Jim in a couple of weeks and will get an update on who may be helping put it together this year. I'd do everything possible to help but I don't have ANY of the sponsor contacts necessary to be a real help.

Jim e-mailed me and said the tournament will go on as usual this year.

My problem with Teakwood is the depth of the water. They need to dredge the place out. Its rediculous that you can't get a boat in the marina that draws three feet a low tide -- come on!!!
