I think the owner of Bimini Rods is named David but I think he is in San Antonio. I have seen his work and it is quality stuff.

Hope it helps,
John

I do not know of the person of whom you seek, but I do know David Mata and Steve Sauceda of San Antonio, Steve is a personal friend of mine and has taught me a few things on rodbuilding.
I am quite a bit cheaper than them, though I do not get as fancy as they do.
If you don't want to drive to San Antonio, Rockport might be closer. I would be happy to build you a rod to your specifications.
Of course if you want ot talk to Steve Sauceda, who is master rod builder, his number is (210)436-6009. Steve's work is flawless and the price is a little high, but his work is pure art!
Bob Bruner of Schertz, Tx, ( Old Fool's Shop ) is retired now, but that man taught me how to build rods 20 years ago. Bob wanted someone to carry on the way he made rods. I accepted his request.
Some say my work is too cheap, but as an apprentice, I am still learning after 20 years. Some day soon I will get to master status.
I build rods for fishing using the old style hand wrap. I don't get crazy on the decorative wraps, but they are not too fancy, just affordable.
If you would like to build you one or would like to discuss the specifics, feel free to give me a call.
Tight lines, Larry Rabe
