After calling everyone I knew that owns a bike and having no takers, I said the heck with it and made this run solo.
Well over $20,000 was raised for the tsunami victims and I'm told over 4,000 bikes made the run. The run started out at "Mattress Mack's" place-o-bidness and ended up at the horse track.
Law enforcement not only escorted us but completely shutdown the freeways during the ride...including the beltway. My hat goes off to the organizers and the law enforcement as well...this one ran like a well oiled machine.
At the horse track we were greeted with a live band, raffle, loud pipe contest and a bike show...lot of fun.
Channel 2's Cynthia Hunt volunteered her time to emcee the event. She just recently returned from southeast Asia and has witnessed the tradgedy first hand...hat's off to Cynthia as well.
Pictures:
1) Here's Mattress Mack himself sending us on our way with Cynthia Hunt and a DJ from KRBE (forget his name) behind him.
2) A shot of the some of the bikes before we left
3) Someone's replica of the Easy Rider bike
4) Why does the song "Monster Mash" come into my head when I look at this shot?
5) Someone's dog "Shelby" gettin' ready for the ride.
6) A patriotic H/D
