All is see are Mercury's on Kenners. Can you get them "new" with a Yamaha?

I guess all BPS sells are Merc's. What I was told by salesman.

True, if you go to BPS. I'm not sure who else is carrying Kenner right now. I know my friend has a Johnson motor on his 21', but he purchased it about 10 years ago from Texas Marine I believe.

I looked at the Kenners at the boat show and was not impressed with the direction they are taking. They just ooozed with Tracker "looks" Im afraid the days of the workhorse Kenners are over. I spent several days at the show and went through several. I ended up ordering a NauticStar. They were the best made boat I crawled around in and seem to be benefitting from Kenner's new home at BPS. I know the dealer I bought my NauticStar from sold everyone he had in stock and had to order more to fill orders. Very well made boat in my judgement. I got mine with a Yamaha too.

If you want a Kenner with a Yamaha, buy a Blazer Bay. It's the same danged boat, either rolled edge or liner, and they outfit factory with Yamaha.

I crawled around several boats at the show and I can honestly say this was the best built boat I looked at during my few days there. The finish job they do on the inside is awesome. Lots of little things that go a long way in my book. Such as all the storage hatches and rod lockers have locks on them and are finished out on the inside. The trolling motor batteries under the console are recessed into the floor so they dont move around. The livewells are lighted. and all the cleats are the recessed pop ups. These may seem like small things, and I guess they are, but it really made the boat stand out. Plus its all composite which suprisingly isnt as big a thing as I thought it was. Not very many all-composite v-hull boats on the market. 10 yr transferrable hull warranty but a lifetime warranty from rot and decay. It also had an in floor fish box which allows me to carry one less ice chest and opens up a lot of floor space.

I bought the 22ft Nautic Bay which is actually 22'8" If I remember. I got a 150 Yamaha which is a little under what its rated for but when I rode in one like it we did 48mph with 2 people in it. Plenty for me. Runs in 13" gets up in about 18"(little deeper than Im used too) and was a dry ride for the light/mod chop we were in. I added a 82lb Motorguide Great White trolling motor with a 60" shaft. Its the new digital one they are raving about, I hope it holds up in the salt. I also just received in the mail Friday my new Garmin 178c which will be added on when the boat gets delivered. It is an awesome unit and I cant wait to get it on the water and see all that it will do. I got a tandem axle Aluminum trailer with torsion axles and L.E.D lights.

Im supposed to take delivery sometime middle of february. I had my boat sold before I left the show so Im boatless right now and its killing me. Wife likes the empty driveway though. I need to get the new one home before she gets to liking it TOO much. lol

Just picked up my new Blackjack boat from Witt Marine last week.Bill Kenner has out done him self with this boat,The workmanship in this boat is somthing to see.Go look at the new Kenner boats then go look at the Blackjack.I bet Bill Kenner wishes he could take his name off those boats nitro has made the kenner name boats the Wal-Mart of boats and OQ went out the door, they are now just another cheap made boat. And let me say I have owned Kenner Boats in the past but just could not go there now.My new Blackjack is great ride, fast, dry boat. With a 200hp Yam. the boat runs 54mph and will run in 14in of water.

Haven't rode in a black jack but I second the word on them. I crawled on one a few weeks ago and it was a very sweet ride. But as well as gatorbait's boat and so on. What I did hear from an old kenner dealer is that the Kenner plant is set up to produce 6 boats a day and they are doing 16. True or not? I don't know but from what I hear about there quality now it's definantly a possiblility. Like someone said Bill Kenner did out do his self on this boat. It is definantly in my opinion one of the better lookin bay boats out right now. However, with that I believe it is probably a little more then the kenner as well.

I had the choice of Merc or Johnson but that was through Witt Marine and before the Tracker days. I think Witt got away from Kenner after that and now sell Tritons mostly.

Ya Zac that a sweet rig. Just don't forget the draft when try'n to run your normal grounds.

I got a bud that has a nice Kenner like MT's but with BP being the store for them I may have to pass.

I think ol red leg might have been talking about the E-tecs. I don't know though.

Ive always owned Evinrude's and this is my first Yammy. The new E-tec's are sweet motors and are at the top of the pack. But, I priced one and as a hard workin guy who has a family and other priorities an E-tec is out of the question. I have to burn several drums of oil and gas before I even come close to closing the price gap. Nice engine for a single man with a good job or a lottery winner. I would have put one on my boat but I had to many other things I could do with that extra seven grand.

WOW I didn't realize the price difference in those motors. Hell you could almost put twins on your boat for that lol.

I am guessing he is a bombardier man. That is a fantastic company with a wonderful reputation for high performance and longevity, but come on I think they have replaced Yamaha for someone's reason not to buy. The reason most fisherman would not buy a yami is that they were the top of the line and you paid for it. As much as I have stood behind thier products in the past, I will not pay a premium for a motor that is still in test phase. I don't care what you say, until it has 5 years on the basic design, I am unwilling to touch it, especially if they are charging a premium for it. It very well may prove to be the best motor on the market but until then I just ordered my new boat with a Vmax HPDI. My reasons? 1) Evinrude was bankrupt so Bombardier took them over and basically started over. The 7 year warranty might be a stab and trying to drum up sales with a failing product due to price and newness. Maybe not but who knows? 2) How can you go wrong with a yami, they are cutting edge and lighter. 3) Because I got a better deal pricewise and warranty wise when comparing this motor to the Merc I was going to buy (200xs) but that means giving up some weight. 4) Who wants to pay 16,500 for the motor without any of the extra required stuff versus 14,500 for the motor and every accessory you can get including a prop mouted tuned etc...

There ya have it Evinrude/Johnson bandwagoners hehehehe, I have been on their team up until this motor.

Just my $.02

I bought the carbed Yammy 150 for a reason. A tried and true motor. That motor has a lot of water time and has been proven. Plus, I was blown away that my 150 carbed Yamaha is quieter than the 2 stroke evinrude 60 I had before. That blew me away. Im definitely a Yamaha convert.

Piece of cake, go to radio shack and get a meter and test it. This ought to be a fun test. Maybe I will buy one and start with my boat and we can buy/pass it around to everyone and get our own tests done on quietness of motors.

That was Spout's subtle attempt at getting me to show him where I REALLY fish, not where I tell him I fish. LOL Get in line Spout, plus I charge GP residents double. LOL I wish I could go dude.
