Im planning on building about 20 new flagging jugs this weekend. I will probably fish them 90% of the time at Conroe. Im most familiar with mid region of the lake and try to stick to that area for the first few trips over the next few weeks.
I have designed a setup which will allow me to easily change depths of each jug and place the dropper hooks as many as the legal limit at any position on the line.
For this time of the year what is a good depth to place them and what depth to place the hooks? I only plan on doing 2 to 3 hooks per drop.
I plan on using shad if I can get them or bait with Beef Heart or something similar on circle hooks targeting Channel's in the 2-4 lb range.

i use 2 gallon jugs mostly. i do have some 1 gal. but not many. the 2 gallons can be seen from a distance, so they do not get run over as much by the speed boaters. if they hit the larger jugs, they probably did it on purpose.

these guys are almost strictly juggers and they are having a "muster" now thru the weekend at Cagle on Conroe. Hope this helps and apologies for having to send you to another site.

These guys have their stuff together when it comes to catching cats on jugs.My son and I went jugging with Gentleben once, had a blast and caught a mess of cats for a fish fry. I hear those musters are a fun family time.http://www.fishingtx.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=55

no I jus tbee nroun dtha tboard a lon gtime mysel f! sens eback when it star ted! I was aroun d ther ewhen they lef t BOC and starte dit.
Why only 2 or 3 baits? If I'm in water over 15 foot, I'll use all 5 - especially on Conroe where you tend to catch em on top as much as the bottom.
If you want to catch channel cats, find a windblown bulkhead and toss em up against the bulkhead. Windblown sand bar will work too. Put your baits on the bottom. For blues, come off that that bulkhead/sandbar to where the first significant drop is. Anchor the jugs on the deep side of the drop with hooks from bottom all the way to the top.
If there's no wind, use a depth finder to find a creek channel and drop jugs along the channel baited top to bottom. That's where you'll catch the bigger fish anyways.
The bite will be much better at night.
