I know a bunch of y'all probably read the BOC forum (and may know this as well) but I tried something today that I read there that worked well, so i wanted to pass it on. One of the regulars posted about using raw chicken breast chunks instead of livers. I tried it today at one of the ponds I regularly fish and it worked extremely well. I caught 17 fish in about two hours of fishing, all in the 14-18 inch range that is typical for this pond. Fish it just like you would cut bait. I used the breasts that Walmart sells frozen, about 12 in a bag for around $6.00. I tried this as i have been trying to find an alternative to hotdogs, which work well but are easy to steal. The chicken stays on the hook extremely well, in fact, i didn't lose any bait. With hotdogs, I usually lose a couple of pieces of bait for every fish I catch. I did not chum, as the city throws out feed on this pond which tends to concentrate the fish pretty well in the morning. I am going to try marinading some in a little blood dip bait with some garlic, see if that revs 'em up any.
