Gonna be catching bait before work in the morning and after 8 hours of welding, I'll be heading to the jungle with or with-out my wife/fishing partner. I'll probably run two trotlines, 30 hooks each friday night and throw about 20 jugs Sat. morning.
I've never been there before, but we're going to give it a shot.

I have never seen a boat venture off into the jungle. But I figure there should be thousands of cats in the jungle, even if there is only one cat per stump. Wish I could join you.

I have a cousin by marriage that used to be a commercial fisherman. Well, his father and uncle had a contract on catching the buffalo and gar out of lake livingston, back in the days of the gill net.
He told me some great stories of Lake Livingston . They used to catch those big buffalo in the nets and said he used to roll those big yellow cats out of them. (couldn't keep them). He said there are tons of big yellow cats in the lake.
He also told me how to fish in those stumps with my trotlines. He said I should do really well in there. That has yet to be seen, since I have never been there before.
My 12th grade english teacher always said,"Nothing beats a failure, but a try." That was about 20 plus years ago, but it has always stuck with me. so I guess I will give it the best try that I have.
The truck is loaded and the boat is hooked up. All I need is some fresh bait and I'll be set.
Good or bad I'll have the results and the end of the trip and hopefully some pictures.

If you want to catch some yellow cats, look to the east of the jungle and you will see some limestone cliffs where the river channel makes a sharp turn. There is an area of slightly shallow water between the deep channel and the shore. There is a bunch of stumps in the area. This is a good spot for yellow cat especially if you have live perch for bait.
I enjoyed your stories about Lake Livingston and the yellow catfish.
You will do well in the Jungle . My impression of you told me that.
Too bad you don't have someone to hold the light.
Looking forward to you posting on this venture Gator.
Good luck and stay safe.
