Finally finished the spiral wrap on a Calstar 270 I'll be taking to Costa Rica 2/11. Paired w/ a Calcutta 700 to drop back live baits for roosters/mahi/sails. We'll see how they hold up. jerry

Nice rods Jerry!!!!! What lb test are you fishing with your spinner??? John and Mark gave me a hard time about bringing spinning gear to CR. what the hey,, we caught lots of sails and dorado with them..

Thanks guys. Bret, Olson can't rag too much...last inshore trip, he had an older Penn w/ the bail wire cut to a 2" stub. Mine is a ss8500...it holds 325 yds of 20lb mono. I may spool w/ 30lb power pro, to get more line on...what do ya think? If you've got a replacement guide, I bet I could repair your rod. I've got some guides, but it would be sheer luck if I have what you need. jerry

Jerry, last trip to zancudo, I took a 9500ss and a baitrunner 6500 both with 30 lb.ande hi-vis, never got broke off . Power pro might be the way to go if you get hooked up with one of those big pargos or roosters.. We didnt do any inshore fishing when we were there, apparently the offshore bite was much better. at the time. as far as the rod repair goes, no big hurry, maybe we can meet up after we all get back from costa rica.. compare fishing stories, and figure out which guide I need.
