Has anyone been fishing at Lake Mathis recently? We are getting ready to rent a cabin there in a few weeks for a day or two and try our luck. Have not seen any reports from there in several weeks. Last time we fished Mathis, there was a hugh influx of water from all the rains and we only had one, yes, one catfish. Was in keeping with the coastal saltwater fishing all this year, el Stinko! Hopefully the water has setteled down a bit and the fishin has improved a bit. Thanks in advance for any reports. Tight lines to all!!!

Pier/bank fishing at night seems to be paying off the best now....they come in from the deep to feed. The lake is 26mis long and fishing is very different in some areas
At night You can see them boiling the water under lights scooping up MayFlys.

Cast net for shad 30 mins before and up till daylight....very scarce after the sun comes up.....

I PMed you my phone number if you need more and current info as your trip gets closer.... Please Feel free to call.http://www.2coolfishing.com/ttmbforum/images/icons/icon7.gif

We fish cut/live shad on 3 (2/0)hooks, one ounce bottom weight drops on a rising barometer.

Welcome to the lake and Best of luck to you and yours...wishing you a fun and safe trip...http://www.2coolfishing.com/ttmbforum/images/icons/icon14.gif
