Looked at the Boatright cavitation plate at the boat show but didn't notice any others. The dealer I am buying the boat from carries the Shallow Blaster. The Boatright plate seems to me to be a little more sturdy. Would like to hears pros and cons on either or recommendations on other manufacturers to look at. It will be used on a 21' Explorer. Thanks.

I Have A Shallow Blaster On My Haynie Seadrifter. Works Great!! Very Solid Once It Is Installed,i Use It For A Step To Get Back In The Boat After A Wade.cut Rate Sells Them {45 S At Fuquay} About $200. Not Hard To Install Yourself. Boatright Looks Like A Good One . Also Check Out Nedski, He Makes Quality Stuff Also...

Ps...another Advantage That Shallowblaster Gives Is You Do Not Have To Drill Holes In The Cavitation Plate {lower Unit} Of Your Motor To Mount It.it Has A Very Tight Slip Fit Around The Engine Lower Unit. Hope This Helps...

Thanks for the reply FISHTEXX about the Shallowblaster. I knew there was a 3rd manufacturer to look at, Nedski. I just couldn't remember the name.

I've got a Nedski, It works great and even works as a step to get in and out of the boat. It's stainless so it will last a life time.

If you're interested in appearance; a shallowblaster will have the best cosmetic appeal on that Explorer.

make sure you keep the shallow blaster tight on the motor

or it will eat away at your cavitation plate . Saw one yesterday

the cavitation plate ground completely thru .

The nedski foil is bolted about 12 times and becomes like part

of the motor . I have 2 of them on my catamaran instead of trim tabs

they are the highest quality on the market and worth the cost in my

opinion .

Another good thing about the Shallowblaster is you can change the lower unit lube without taking them off. I modified mine with a dremmel and the fill screw is not obstructed at all.
Rick
The modification is not necessary but just for convience reasons.

The modification is not necessary but just for convience reasons.I did the same to mine and it was easier after that.

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up with the Boatright plate. I am supposed to pick up the boat tomorrow providing the prop coming from Baumanns get there. Hopeful to have a picture for the Show your boat thread tomorrow. My fingers are crossed.

Too Tall,

you will be very happy with the Boatright. It clamps on with no drilling the Anti-Cavitation plate, Is made of 3/16" marine grade aluminum and you don't have to remove it to change your lower unit lube.
