Well, I'm still contemplating which boat to buy, but I have found that the place where I buy from may be just as if not more important. If I can choose, what are y'alls opinions on the different dealers around town? I've looked at Marine Max, Texas Marine, & Travis Marine.

We purchased a Sea Hunt from Marine Max about 2 1/2 years ago, and delt with Travis Leach. We had a good experience with them throught out the process,a nd I wouldn't hesitate to deal with them again. We haven't had any problems with the boat or engine either, so we haven't had to use them for any major service. I haven't delt with the other two dealers you mentioned.

I can't vouch for sales, prices, etc. , but I will say that there are two fellas at the Travis store in Beaumont that got me out of a real bind when my motor went out. It is an older Johnson 140, and I couldn't find anyone that could (or would) talk to me about what it might be, excpet for an older gentlemen at Travis. He sat there and told me more than I ever wanted to know about that motor, and where I could buy the parts I needed to fix it. I have heard alot of bad things about Travis, but I'll tell you they were the only ones that would take more than 30 sec. to answer a few questions. Now I don't know about the Travis's here in Houston, but the service guys in Bmt. were real friendly, helpful, and top notch guys. My .02, or whatever it's worth.

LMC is building a good reputation. Inc
I bought a Triton from Witt, it was a good experience with everyone very helpful. I had a problem with my motor under the extended warranty and they took care of it, my only gripe is that they don't get in a hurry about anything including my repair.

Anything that you buy in this business should be accompanied by the service and help that Hou-Chap spoke about in his post.
LMC is dealing at the boat show and selling a lot of boats so I would talk to them, I would also say that they know that price brings in new customers but good service keeps them coming back,Witt has allways been in plain view during all my time as a tournament fisherman so they will also be one of my choices.
My only dealings wtith Travis in Houston has been over sponsorship negotiations so how they will treat you I do not know, I have fished against and spoken with their representatives out of San Antonio and they were great people.
If you are looking for a Ranger also talk to Texas Marine, They have allways seemed too high to me but when buying Ranger Boats there is no cheap price.
I do know that the Ranger factory people are all about helping people.

LMC is straight forward, honest, and the people are very pleasant.
Will take delivery next week of an Explorer Flatsmaster 1850 with jackplate, Yamaha TRP, and other goodies. The boat is rigged for tournament fishing with a livewell. Based on other's experience looking for 50 mph.

Charles,
If you don't mind, about what does a rig like that cost? It's a great looking design for the kind of fishing I do.
Thanks,
