I just read an article concerning fuel mileage. It stated that the weight on the tongue of your boat trailer is a factor on fuel mileage. I dont know about the rest of yall but on my Kenner 19VX, it is awful tongue heavy. How do you figure the correct position for your winch and bow roller? Should I be able to lift the tongue of the trailer by hand? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

7-10% of the total weight of the trailer and boat should be on the tongue. The heavier rigs go towards the 7%, while lighter ones go towards 10%. You want to position the boat so the transom and keel are fully supported, then move the bow stop up to secure the bow. Lastly, adjust the axle position to get the correct tongue weight. The last think you want to do is have the bunks up under the hull and not supporting the transom directly which could happen if you just slide the boat and bow stop back to lighten the tongue. Your asking for stress cracks around the transom corners if you do this.
