In most areas where you have public fishing. It is hard to run a trotline shallow.
But catfish know that the food is not at the bottom, but at the top, and in the
2-6 foot water. If at all possible run a trotline along the bank with NO Weight!!
This is against most trotliners thinking. Big cats come into the shallows to feed,
like shark. If you will run your line along the bank, instead of the deepest part
of the pond, lake, or river. Then you will have better luck. Always try to use live
bait where legal. Good Luck!!
