I'm going to head to the dam tomorrow monring any tips on where to fish. I'm going to bring my surf rod might be a little to big but I know I can hum the bait out there. I have only fished the dam a couple of time I normaly stick to lake houston. I understand frozen chad sucks does browders sale fresh shad or something that will stay on the hook better? Also while I fish for catfish with my surf rod would it be work throwing a some road runners from the bank?

Any help please of where to fish from the bank of the dam.

Well I went two days ago after work and the river has dropped some and ole Whitebassfisher was right in the email he sent me. The West ramp is the place to launch right now. the East ramp is filled in with mud and makes for a slippery load/luanch. So try the West ramp and stay to the right. We caught fine bluecatfish anchored about halfway back from the restricting line. We used cut perch for big cats (6lbs+) and shad for 13" to 14" keeprs. Fished about 2 hourws and kept 9 nice ones. If you can stay anchored at the restricting line use that surf rod and cast a 2oz sinker with a drop leader baited with big pueces of cut shad. Should hook you up with b ig bluecatfish.

Thanks for all the information ShadSlinger. I fished friday but had no luck not sure if it was because only one gate was open but It looked slow for every body. I fished for about 2 hours with only 1 bite. After that I headed to Wolf Creek Park and fished from there bulk head before all the campers came in for the long weekend. I caught 40 cats all legal size to take home however each fillet would have been about as thick as a slice of bacon. Fun but nothing for the table. All where caught with frozen shad on a cork about 10 feed from the bulk head. I tried finding the bigger cats with my surf rod about 40-50 yards out but had troubles with getting hung up. Wells guys thanks for the replies and the fishing information.
