New here anyway I live in austin, and used to live in miami and used to do a lot of spearfishing (both free diving and scuba) I have all my scuba equipment here in austin and I am nitrox certified.
If any of you need someone experienced to split gas costs or need a dive buddy I would love to get together.
I have a boat here in austin but it is a small flat bottomed 18ft jet drive that I use mostly for duck hunting and fishing on the lake.
Anyway hello to everyone

Welcome to the family!

If you use geezer gas, you must be alright!

Pull up a chair, and tell us a little about yourself!

Glad your in tx. I too am new to this board. I also have about 2 hundred dives and am advanced open water.I have a 24 foot boat and plan on spearfishing the gulf the summer. But i have no experience diving the rigs or spearfishing... so if any one needs or wants a tagalong on a dive trip i would appreciate it. Maybe we could go out on my boat if you wanted. i have my own gear and tanks and a borrowed speargun. jason

I am a rookie to dive but a vet to the board. Good to have yall here. I have a 24' boat that is having a little interior work done right now. But it will be ready within the next month. Right now I am trying to get some freshwater dives under my belt and plan to be rig diving by early summer and maybe spearfishing by the end of summer. I figure this will be my learning year and be full into a little hunter by next year.

I need to get my tanks inspected, but after that I am ready to go.

I need to get my tanks inspected, but after that I am ready to go.

SteveI did a tank run two years ago and had all my (and my regular dive buddies) tanks hydro'd - I think there were 27 tanks!

That's the last time I'll ever do that again.

the main thing about rig diving is to get to the thermocline. that is where the current slow down. watch your depth, and don't shoot anything too big. those rig legs will play hell on your wetsuit trying to hold on to a 80 lb. A.J. http://www.2coolfishing.com/ttmbforum/images/icons/oh.gif

Phoenix Fire & Equipment in the Oak Forest (Ella & 610 North) is where I take mine.

might look for a fire equipment testing shop in your area.

Or - take it to just about any dive shop. They will have the Hydro done for you and then do the visual inspection. Phoenix does not do the visual (they might now), so you have to go to a dive shop anyway.

Of course a shop is going to charge extra for them hauling you tank around...

Gaudi,
Welcome to 2Cool... I also am somewhat new to the Texas side of the Gulf.. from Maderia Beach/St Pete area.
It's a whole new game here.. No free shafts, little hard bottom...But tons of Rigs still lots of fun and no shortage of good people (or advise!)

Welcome A-board !
