View Full Version : air bag kit with install & quick turnaround?
I need to get a rear air bag kit and install for a 2005 Dodge 250/4wd. It's already got a 3 inch lift and big tires. I just need to beef the rear end up/ get it level. At most, it needs 1000 pounds of lift. Any suggestions around Houston?

Can't speak for the type of service you'll get (never had any work done there), but the trailer place on Redbluff rd. on the left before Spencer hwy stocks a couple different brands and does installs.

No problems at all.
Pasadena Hitch and Trailer I think they are called.

Pasadena Hitch and Trailer I think they are called.do the bags just act as an assist? I need something for the times when I am hauling a load in the bed, but would like to be able to go back to stock when I am not.
I had airbags on a previous truck and you only need to inflate them as needed when you are leveling out the back of your truck, kinda like the old assist springs you could put on but airbags are nice because you can deflate them back to stock when you are done carrying a load around.

Yep. You just add air. When you aren't hauling anything, run 5psi in them and and you won't notice a bit of difference in the height or the ride. They really work great for what you want to do.
If I remember correctly, 100psi gives you 2500 lbs of lift. You can also get an onboard air compressor so that you can adjust them from the cab. I didn't have this and had to adjust mine manually. This worked fine, but there were a few times I wished I had the onboard system.
in round numbers, how much did they run to have installed?

I got one of these sets for around $250 online and installed it myself. I would guess that they would charge you about 4 hours worth of shop time which is generally around $65/hr. so about $7-800 would be my guess on the retail side with install.....

It's been about 4 years, but I think it was around 450 for the airbags and install. I got the Firestone air bags.
thanks for the help, guys. The Shop in LC quoted me $510 installed for the Firestone setup. The bike rallies have outlawed 4 wheelers since a gal flipped hers last year and had to be lifeflighted out. Only golf carts and mules are going to be allowed and the cart weighs a lot more than my Warrior does.

That sounds about right. I think you'll be pleased with them.

The guys over at The Shop are top-notch. I had 'em do a 4" lift 4 years ago and they did a great job.
If you're not gonna need to inflate/deflate them alot, you can forego the onboard compressor and carry a small bicycle pump to inflate 'em -- that's what I do when I pull the travel trailer. Craig.
