My wife was given a new notebook at work and I was wondering if I can simply plug a wireless router into the existing hardwired router that serves the 2 computers in my office? Is it that simple?
thats the first step, then you need to set it up to talk to the wireless card...most do it now just by running the insall cd. I would only do it if you had a fast internet connection.

Bill,
Wouldn't be easier to replace the existing wired router with a wireless since he is only serving 2 CPUs. Could save some addressing headaches. Most have ports for wired access also. Or even a Wireless Access Point connected to the existing routers. You can get the whole new router set up for about the same money as the WAP however. But you are aware I do not know much about this stuff. Just thinking out loud.

Is there a wireless router with a couple of cable ports out there? That might be the ticket.
Several ways to do it. I listed the cheapest way. Wireless router with a built-in DSL or cable modem will triple the cost or more unless you find one on ebay or sale or amazon.

I have a cable modem already. I'm looking at this router. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00007KDVI/wwwwebofferco-20
Just trying to sniff out any potential problems so I don't have a bunch of downtime tomorrow trying to get everything to cooperate.
also need a wireless card for the notebook if not installed.
One thing I like to do is keep all parts the same brand.
I did read the reviews/offers (in your thread) and saw one listed with a free wireless card thats a very good deal.
