I'm looking at a 17' Bay Seeker with a 75hp Force. I know a Force is less than desirable, but how bad can they really be? Looks like it has been worked on recently, new starter plus missing the air intake. Seems like a pretty decent deal. It's sitting there at Bancer's in Austin. Any one have any opinions? Anyone seen it?

A friend at work had one.

His mechanic told him...

Never run WOT for any amount of time...

Never tow anything...even skiers...

If you baby it, it will last...if not it will break...

For whatever its worth- I had a Chrysler 135hp. Probably one of the best RUNNING motors I ever oned. Problem was I couldn't keep a set of gears in it. Never hit anything....... just about every year the gears would strip.

I have 1996 Force 40 HP. It has run great since the day I owned in. I bought the boat used in 1998. I have logged near 500 hours on the motor and the only problem I have had is the water pump (Now I think this is to be replaced every couple of years to keep it from going out). One note: My bayhawk 15-6 is rated for a 50 hp and this 40 hp (I was told) is rated at the power head not at the prop as other motors are rated so my boat is a little under powered.
Other than that I have been happy with the motor. It is not worth much last NADA search said it was worth about 800.00

My two cents.
